Our collective future depends upon our ability to restore the Earth: our common land. Commonland is a not-for-profit that brings people together to transform degraded landscapes into thriving ecosystems, economies and communities. Our holistic approach to landscape restoration, the 4 Returns Framework, focuses on generating 4 returns for all landscape stakeholders: return of inspiration, social return, natural return, and financial return. With this approach, anyone can work with nature and their community to restore their local landscape within one generation.

EPTDO aims to achieve this by getting communities involved in a variety of programs, for example, greeneries supported by Geographic Information (GIS) and GPS technology. Employing technology to aid in the maintenance of greeneries empowers the workers to engage in land restoration and climate change mitigation activities while earning a decent living. Projects like this are how EPTDO takes a multi-faceted approach to tackling the problems stemming from climate change, land degradation, and inequality.
