Blue Zone – Restoration Pavilion

This eco-tech company is developing concepts, technologies and solutions for plant cultivation and use in suboptimal environments, specifically for ecological restoration of post-mining landscapes and degraded lands. The technology cost-effectively grows selected native moss species in large scale, which is used to restore areas disturbed by human activities like industrial sites, post-mining landscapes, roads and infrastructure, for post-fire rehabilitation, or to slowdown and reverse desertification by facilitating biocrust restoration. The technology can also be integrated into existing reclamation and restoration approaches, across all geographies, and particularly in harsh climates and conditions. The innovation’s adaptive and scalable solutions offer unique capabilities to grow native mosses ex situ on large scale bioreactors to enable rapid land restoration.
