This side event will highlight the "Improved Resilience to Transboundary Sand and Dust Storms (SDS)" project, which unites Kuwait and Iraq in tackling the rising threat of sand and dust storms across borders. Focusing on sustainable land-use practices, ecosystem restoration, and capacity-building efforts in Southern Iraq and Kuwait, the session will offer insights into cross-border strategies, community engagement, and science-based interventions. Attendees will explore lessons learned, policy recommendations, and collaborative opportunities for scaling SDS resilience initiatives across the Middle East.
