Land Action Labs kicking off in Türkiye

November 6, 2026

The first in-person meeting will train more than 120 educators and help establish a national network to advance land restoration through education.

Türkiye will host an in-person workshop from 5-6 November with more than 120 educators in attendance to explore how schools can become centres for land restoration and environmental action and test new teaching materials for use in schools.

The workshop marks a key milestone for Land Action Labs, an initiative led by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and jointly developed and supported by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) G20 Global Land Initiative.

The workshop will also lay the groundwork for building a national community of practice to connect educators and partner institutions to help them to share experiences, strengthen collaboration and develop a model that could eventually reach schools across Türkiye.

The event will serve as the official public launch and global call for schools worldwide to join the one-year Land Action Labs pilot, which aims to equip teachers and students with the knowledge and practical skills to prevent, reduce and reverse land degradation.

By connecting educators across countries and turning schools into spaces for firsthand environmental learning, Land Action Labs seeks to nurture a new generation of land stewards capable of contributing to global land restoration goals.
