The LIFE TECMINE project aims to implement mine restoration strategies in forest areas and return the natural harmony to these exploited landscapes. LIFE TECMINE’s innovative “GeoFluvTM” method involves shaping the landscape so that it mimics natural formations. These formations are stable, resistant to erosion, and capable of supporting the restoration efforts. So far they have restored more than 13 hectares of land surrounding the Fortuna mine in Ademuz, Valencia. Alongside efficient management of water and other natural resources, the “GeoFluvTM” method has helped to introduce new habitats, enhance species biodiversity, and provide a new, innovative model for mine restoration.
