Mohamed Halake is a respected elder from the indigenous pastoralist communities of Northern Kenya, known for his deep understanding of traditional practices and sustainable land management. With robust experience in promoting the conservation of natural resources in arid and semi-arid regions of Northern, Halake has become a key voice in advocating for the integration of indigenous knowledge in modern land restoration efforts. His expertise stems from generations of pastoralist traditions that emphasize harmony between communities and the environment.

At the UNCCD 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16), Halake has been honored with an opportunity to speak on the critical role of Indigenous Knowledge in Land Conservation and Restoration. His contribution highlights the importance of traditional wisdom in addressing modern challenges such as desertification, land degradation, and climate change.
