Mariem Cheyakh

Mariem Cheyakh has over five years of experience in healthcare and eight years in community service. She is the head of the scientific research and archives team in the pediatric oncology unit at the National Center of Oncology in Nouakchott, Mauritania, and an assistant professor at the University of Nouakchott. Mariem also works with the Franco-Africain group for pediatric oncology (GFAOP) as a clinical research associate and is a member of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP). She holds a master’s degree in biochemistry and immunology from Algeria and is currently pursuing a PhD in onco-genetics. Her research centers on understanding genetic modifications in leukemia and malignant hemopathies, and pollution considered one of the significant risk factors. Mariem is especially interested in environmental issues, such as heavy metal and pesticide exposure, and is committed to advancing public health awareness and research in these areas.
