Gilles Amadou Ouédraogo

Gilles Amadou Ouédraogo is a Programme Management Officer within the Great Green Wall Accelerator of UNCCD’s Global Mechanism.

In this role, Gilles Amadou manages four projects which support the coordination and implementation of Sahel Initiatives, including the Great Green Wall Initiative for the Sahel and the Sahara. He plays a key role in monitoring the progress of the world’s largest Nature-Based solution towards land restoration, job creation and Greenhouse Gas sequestration in over eleven Sahel countries. In this role, Gilles Amadou convenes task forces on Monitoring, Data Management and governance in the aim to streamline regional support, project management, donor relations, partner engagement, strategic planning for the implementation of the GGW. His efforts include country support ranging from capacity building to benchmarking and impact measurement. Gilles Amadou is responsible for supporting the Panafrican Agency for the Great Green Wall with the Creation and design of the Great Green Wall Observatory which tracks progress and results from Great Green Wall Projects across the region. He is keen on sharing this experience and learning from his peers during this UNCCD COP 16 in Riyadh.
