Nunatak offers nature-based solutions to remediate and restore soil health, by designing plant-microorganism associations. They are building a biotechnological platform that integrates information of soils, plant species, fungi and bacteria. It allows us to design different products to restore soils. Their first product combines the strength of Antarctic microorganisms with simple management and fast growing plant species: rye-grass . The benefits of our technology, allows us to transform degraded soils into living soils, promoting its biodiversity. By using plants, they provide extra ecosystem services benefits and this can reflect in higher soil economic value.
LIFE TECMINE's innovative use of the ‘GeoFluvTM’ method consists of modelling the landscape to mimic natural formations. These formations are stable, erosion resistant and able to support restoration efforts. To date, more than 13 hectares of land around the Fortuna mine in Ademuz, Valencia, have been restored. Another key novel action has been the selection and treatment of substrates to rebuild a fertile and functional soil, which together with land remodelling has enabled effective management of water and other natural resources, the introduction of new habitats, improving species biodiversity and providing a new and innovative model for mine restoration.
A land restoration, conservation and extension service provide. They intentionally work with rural women farmers to transform communities for sustainability and permanence.
Sommalife is a social enterprise that uses modern technology to create sustainable income and impact in rural communities, for local women, in particular. Its digitization of Shea Supply has built capacity in financial literacy and worked with local communities to set up and manage protected parklands, raise and plant shea seedlings.
