Juliano Salgado is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Instituto Terra, where he works for the socio-environmental transformation of the Rio Doce basin, aiming for collaboration with rural producers, indigenous peoples and public entities. He studied Law and Economics at the University of Paris I and graduated in Cinema from the London Film School. He has been a film director since 1996, receiving the Special Jury Prize at Cannes and being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2015 for The Salt of the Earth.
