Ahmed Alzaharani
Deputy Minister, Skills, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Saudi Arabia
Dr Ahmed established and leads the Deputyship for Skill and Training within the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development. He is responsible for leading the Saudi national skill agenda that is designed to ensure a strong alignment between the needs of employers and the supply of talent to the labour market to ensure productivity and quality employment in line with Saudi Vision 2030. This includes overseeing the development of a national skill strategy, sector skill councils, sectorial level skills anticipation and matching studies and occupation standards. Prior to this role, he was the Deputy Minister for labour policies and in 2020, he was the Chair of the G20 Employment Group. Dr Ahmed holds PhD in Economics and Finance from Brunel University of London. His research interests and publications include the subjects of public policy and labour, behavioural economy and financial markets.
