Collaborative partners: Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction

The G20 Global Land Initiative Coordination Officeof the UN Convention to Combat Desertification proudly presents this edition of BBL, the sixth in the series, is proudly presented in collaboration with the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR).

Formally established in 2008, the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR) is a global alliance of UN agencies, NGOs, and specialist institutes striving to promote and scale-up implementation of Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) where PEDRR partners strive to collectively implement planned initiatives and activities. This year marks PEDRR’s 15th anniversary in helping advocate for increasing investments in Ecosystem-based Approaches to reducing disaster- and climate risks.

This BBL event delves into the transformation of disaster management over the past 15 years, highlighting its evolution from a primary emphasis on emergency response to a renewed focus on building disaster resilience. It explores the profound impact of climate change in reshaping the realm of disasters, prompting a reevaluation of strategies and preparedness measures. The event addresses how the global community can proactively equip itself with the necessary tools and strategies to enhance resilience in these evolving challenges.
