Save Land

Behind the Art - a glimpse into the museum

The Save Land: United for Land exhibition is developed by the Bundeskunsthalle (Federal Museum of Art and Science of Germany) and the UNCCD-G20 Global Land Initiative to mark the 30th anniversary of the UNCCD. It was opened on 5 December 2024 and will run for six months, up to 1 June 2025. The exhibition combines contemporary art with exhibits from cultural history and the natural sciences and uses the latest media technologies to arouse the five senses – visual, sound, touch, smell and taste – to communicate the global situation of land. The aim is to reach not just the minds but the hearts of the exhibition visitors with the urgent message of land restoration and inspire action for our common good. Among its key questions are: What is the state of soils in cities and on rural land used for agriculture and industry? And is there any nature left in the world untouched by humans? What can we do to protect land?
