UNCCD is starting the year with the launch on 4 February 2025 of the Save Land. United For Land art and science exhibition at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany. Ibrahim Thiaw, UNCCD Executive Secretary, will deliver a keynote address before the interactive discussion, which will be followed by the only free entry and guided tour of the exhibition, courtesy of the UNCCD and Bundeskunsthalle.

The event is a forum for the local community to discuss, learn and engage with the United Nations community about the role of land restoration and sustainable land management in building our resilience to the growing threats of climate change, such as wildfires,  biodiversity loss, droughts and flashfloods.

Co-hosted by UNCCD, UNCCD-G20 Global Land Initiative and the Bundeskunsthalle (KAH) Exhibition, this contemporary art and science exhibition, tells the story of land and its importance with pieces inspired by history, the natural sciences and the latest media technologies. A virtual Save Land. United for Land exhibition can be viewed at saveland.art.

The exhibition aims to inspire pro-land action for the common good because Land is a Gift, Not a Given. It also celebrates the UNCCD’s 30 years of work in calling attention to the threat of land degradation globally and to inspire action to manage land sustainably.

Among the highlights of the Exhibition are the use of interactive digital tools to simplify complex scientific and technical concepts and tools to make personalized land-themed digital stickers and pledges.
