Bonn, Germany: The G20 Global Initiative of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) organized its First International Experts Workshop from 5 to 9 September in Bonn. The workshop brought together twelve experts from all around the world with varied professions in the domain of land and restoration.

The workshop aimed to collectively discuss strategies for communication and collaboration with different actors, along with building a team spirit among the experts in the initiative. During the workshop, the experts had the opportunity to present their work and ideas along with what could be relevant for the initiative to embark upon.

he first day of the workshop gave an overview of the G20 initiative and the work of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Days two, three and four of the workshops focused on elaborating and discussing initiatives and inclusivity, effective engagement of private sector and civil society groups, and developing a good communication strategy. The last day of the workshop ended with a tour of a functioning mining and restoration site.
